Privacy Policy — ShipCheck

ShipCheck is a browser extension that helps iOS developers check App Store metadata and draft review replies. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles and where it goes. Plain version: we don't run any servers, we don't collect your data, and nothing you enter is sent to us.

What the extension stores (on your device only)

All of the following is kept in your browser via chrome.storage.local and never transmitted to us:

• Your Anthropic API key. Used to call the Claude API directly from the extension. Stored locally; never sent anywhere except Anthropic's API.
• Your model choice and preferences.
• Usage counters — how many lints and reply drafts you've run this month, to enforce Free-plan limits. These are plain numbers, not content.
• A snapshot of Apple's public review-guidelines page (a hash and section headings) so the extension can tell when the guidelines change.

You can clear all of it at any time by removing the extension.

What is sent to third parties

• Anthropic (Claude API). When you run a lint or generate a review reply, the text you provide — your App Store metadata fields, or the customer review text and any note you add — is sent directly from your browser to Anthropic's API (api.anthropic.com) using your own API key. It is processed under Anthropic's terms and privacy policy. We are not an intermediary and never see this traffic.
• Apple (developer.apple.com). The guideline-change watch fetches Apple's public review-guidelines page. This is an ordinary request for a public page and includes no personal data.

We operate no backend of our own. There is no ShipCheck server that receives, logs, or stores your content.

What we do NOT do

• We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data.
• We do not use analytics, tracking, or telemetry.
• We do not store your App Store metadata, review text, or API key on any server.
• We do not read or exfiltrate data from App Store Connect. The extension only reads metadata fields on the page you are actively viewing, and only when you click "Lint metadata".

Data you paste

The metadata and review text you enter are used solely to fulfill the request you made (linting or drafting a reply) and are not retained by the extension after the result is returned, beyond what your browser keeps in the input fields while the popup is open.

Permissions and why they're needed

• storage — save your settings, usage counters, and the guideline snapshot locally.
• alarms — schedule the weekly guideline check.
• notifications — alert you when the guidelines change.
• Host access to appstoreconnect.apple.com — show the in-page Lint button and read metadata fields on demand.
• Host access to api.anthropic.com — call Claude with your key.
• Host access to developer.apple.com — fetch the public guidelines page.

Children

ShipCheck is a professional developer tool and is not directed at children.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected in the extension listing and this document's "Last updated" date.
